AQUATIC HERBICIDE INFORMATION

The Aquatic Herbicides Aquathol K®, Littora®, Procellacor®, and Tribune®, or their equivalents, may be used for control of Eurasian Watermilfoil (EWM), Curleafy Pondweed (CLP), and Flowering Rush in the State of Idaho during the 2022 season. Information about these USEPA registered Aquatic Herbicides, including the product label and the Safety Data Sheet (SDS), can be downloaded from the document library below.

Aquathol K® (liquid) is an aquatic herbicide labeled for control of aquatic plant growth in quiescent, slow moving, and flowing water aquatic sites. Endothall, the active ingredient in Aquathol K®, is rapidly absorbed by aquatic plant foliage, interfering with plant protein synthesis and other plant processes. Aquathol K® is a contact herbicide effective against a broad range of aquatic plants. This product does not affect beneficial emerged plants such as Spadderdock, Water Lilies, Water Stargrass, Chara or Nitella.

Waters treated with Aquathol K® may be used for swimming, fishing, and irrigating turf. Restrictions do apply for potable water. Phytotoxicity, or damage, is not expected on plants or crops irrigated with Aquathol K® treated water, however all species and varities have not been tested.  Please see the label for specific Aquathol K® precautions.

Littora® (liquid) is a nonvolatile herbicide for use as a general herbicide to control weeds in aquatic areas.

Diquat dibromide is the active ingredient in Littora®. Diquat is a fast-acting herbicide that works by disrupting cell membranes and interfering with photosynthesis. It is a non-selective herbicide and will kill a wide variety of plants on contact. It does not move throughout the plants, so will only kill parts of the plants that it contacts. Following treatment, plants will die and begin to collapse within a week.

Waters treated with Littora® may be used for swimming or eating fish. Treated water should not be used for drinking water for one to three days, depending on the concentration used in the treatment. Do not use treated water for pet or livestock drinking water for one day following treatment. The irrigation restriction for food crops is five days, and for ornamental plants or lawn/turf, it varies from one to three days depending on the concentration used.  Please see the label for specific Littora® precautions.

ProcellaCOR EC® (liquid) is a selective systemic aquatic herbicide for management of freshwater aquatic vegetation in slow-moving/quiescent waters with little to no continuous outflow: ponds, lakes, reservoirs, freshwater marshes, wetlands, bayous, drainage ditches, and non-irrigation canals, including shoreline and riparian areas in or adjacent to these sites.  Also for managment of invasive freshwater aquatic vegetation in slow-moving/quiescent areas of rivers (coves, oxbows, or similar sites).

Florpyrauxifen-benyl is the active ingredient in ProcellaCOR®. Florpyrauxifen-benzyl is a systemic herbicide that is taken up by aquatic plants.  The herbicide mimics the plant growth hormone auxin that causes excessive elongation of plant cells that ultimately kills the plant. Susceptible plants will show a mixture of atypical growth (larger, twisted leaves, stem elongation) and fragility of leaf and shoot tissue. Initial symptoms will be displayed within hours to a few days after treatment with plant death and decomposition occurring over 2 – 3 weeks

Waters treated with ProcellaCOR® may be used for swimming, fishing, and drinking water. Restrictions exist for irrigation water to agricultural, non-agriculral vegetation, but turf may be irrigated immediately after treatment. Please see the label for specific PorellaCOR EC® precautions.

Tribune® (liquid) is a nonvolatile herbicide for use as a general herbicide to control weeds in aquatic areas.

Diquat dibromide is the active ingredient in Tribune®.

Waters treated with Tribune® may be used for swimming or eating fish. Please see the label for specific Tribune® precautions.
