AQUATIC HERBICIDE INFORMATION
The Aquatic Herbicide Aquathol K® and DMA 4 IVM® will be used for the control of Eurasian Watermilfoil (EWM) in Lake Coeur d'Alene during the 2014 season. Information about Aquathol K® and DMA 4 IVM®, including the product label and the Material Safety Data Sheet, can be downloaded in the document library below.
Aquathol K® (liquid) is an aquatic herbicide labeled for control of aquatic plant growth in quiescent, slow moving, and flowing water aquatic sites. Endothall, the active ingredient in Aquathol K®, is rapidly absorbed by aquatic plant foliage, interfering with plant protein synthesis and other plant processes. Aquathol K® is a contact herbicide effective against a broad range of aquatic plants. This product does not affect beneficial emerged plants such as Spadderdock, Water Lilies, Water Stargrass, Chara or Nitella.
Waters treated with Aquathol K® may be used for swimming, fishing, and irrigating turf. Restrictions do apply for potable water and irrigation of nursery or greenhouse crops, newly seeded or transplanted ornamentals, and newly sodded or seeded turf. Please see the label for specific Aquathol K® precautions.
DMA 4 IVM® (liquid) is an herbicide labeled for selective control of may broadleaf weeds in a variety of sites including aquatic areas.
2,4-D, the active ingredient in DMA 4 IVM®, is absorbed and translocated by aquatic plant foliage, interfering with plant metabolism, and providing systemic control to susceptible broadleaf plant species such as Eurasian watermilfoil. 2,4-D is highly selective for Eurasian watermilfoil when used at the labeled rate leaving native aquatic species relatively unaffected.
Waters treated with DMA 4 IVM® may be used for swimming and fishing. Restrictions do apply for potable water and irrigation of some crop and non crop sites. Please see the label for specific DMA 4 IVM® precautions.
